WARC Winter Field Day 2026 CANCELED

Official Announcement: Cancellation of Winter Field Day Group Event

To: All Members and Friends of the Wilson Amateur Radio Club (WARC)

Date: January 22, 2026

Subject: Event Cancellation and Alternative Participation Plan

After a thorough review of the deteriorating weather conditions and the transition of local advisories to an official Weather Warning, the WARC leadership team has made the difficult decision to cancel our organized group gathering for Winter Field Day.

Our primary concern is the safety of our members and guests. Given the high probability of significant ice accumulation and unpredictable road conditions, we believe it is necessary to avoid any unnecessary travel or outdoor equipment setup.

Join the Fun from Home: “Stay Warm, Stay Active”

While we won’t be meeting in person, we want to keep the spirit of Winter Field Day alive! We are encouraging all members to participate individually from the comfort and safety of their home stations.

How to participate for Club Credit:

* Club Contact: Stay in touch with fellow members throughout the event via the club repeater.

* Logging: Use your preferred logging software under your own callsign.

* The Exchange: Use the exchange 1H [Your Section] (e.g., 1H TN). This indicates one station, operating from home, in the Tennessee section.

* Submit Your Logs: After the event concludes, please send your logs to the club. We will aggregate the results so WARC receives official club credit!

Safety First

We share in the disappointment of not being able to gather together this year. However, amateur radio is built on readiness and common sense; prioritizing the well-being of our community is the most important “protocol” we follow.

Please stay safe, stay warm, and we look forward to hearing you on the air!

73,

WARC / WFD Leadership Team
