With the move of the web site to a new host, some changes to how the pages are organized and how visitors interact with the site and each other on the site. We no longer allow comments to our posts on the site as these tended to easily get off-topic. Instead we are implementing a “Forums” page for this type of interaction. This will help keep the individual pages looking cleaner and keep the comments and conversations more on topic.
The forum is in it’s early stages and currently has two “Forums” that can be posted in right now. The first one is “The Elmer’s Corner.” An “Elmer” is what hams call their mentors in the hobby. The Elmer’s Corner is where you can post questions about amateur radio to get help with something they might be having trouble understanding or just can’t seem to find a clear answer on. It is divided into four categories: Not Yet Licensed, Technician, General, and Amateur Extra. The second forum is “The Trading Post” and is for posting amateur radio gear and accessories that you either want to sell or are looking to buy used. This replaces the old “Swap” page and is organized into categories for the different types of equipment you may have or want. A Q&A forum called “Wilson ARC Q&A” will be the next forum tome online and will be for asking questions about the club, it’s meetings, activities, nets, etc. If there is/are any other forum(s) that you would like to see added, please send an e-mail to admin@wilsonarc.org with your request and we’ll try to accommodate your request.
