I want to thank those of you who helped with Merit Badge University this
year. Those of you who were not able to participate missed out on seeing a
lot of excitement in the boys and a lot of interest in what it takes to
obtain a license and equipment to get into amateur radio. Unfortunately we
were not able to get any good DX to work with the boys but they still had
the opportunity to get on the air with a few of our club members on both 2m
and HF. I also had the opportunity to speak to about 25-30 of the adult
leadership of the BSA in Middle Tennessee about amateur radio and it appears
that there was a fair amount of interest generated there as well. Below is
the note I received this morning from our contact for MBU. Please join me
in thanking those who helped out with this great event-

. Tom Parker, KB4SFN - Instructor & HF Control Operator

. Steve Illgen, K4GF - Instructor & 2m Control Operator

. Wes Tewmey - 2m Contact

. Greg Tomerlin - 2m and HF Contact

I also extend a special thanks to Tom Parker for graciously providing a HF
Station for the class as well.

Michael,

I wanted to thank you and the Wilson-ARC for their help this year at CMBU.
The comments were all very positive and the scouts had a great time and
enjoyed the experience. I would hope we can plan for next year soon and
include the club at that time.

Thanks again,

George Warde
