[ WC4AR ] Wilson County ARES Notes - 25 June 2008

I just returned from a conference in Las Vegas last week. Am I thinking
about the $1,000,000 dollars I could have won at the slots or the Star Trek
exhibit at the MGM Grand that I hadn't visited yet! Nope. My only thought
right now is:

FIELD DAY!

I always look forward to Field Day and this year is no exception. I hope
everyone can make it this Saturday. It is not only fun, but an excellent way
to practice emergency communication skills.  Check out the Field Day website

The next Wilson County ARES meeting is scheduled for July 8th, 2008 from
7:00 - 9:00 PM at the WEMA Training Center. The center is located at 117 Oak
Street, Lebanon, across the street from the WEMA EOC. Among the topics of
discussion will be these two important items:

1.  The upcoming Tennessee Section SET exercise scheduled for 4 Oct 2008 and
our participation in it.

2.  Net Control assignments for the weekly Wilson ARC/ARES net beginning in
August. This is another opportunity to improve your net control skills,
whether you are new to amateur radio, or just need to brush up on NCS
practices.

The ARES SOP group is also in the early stages of creating a standards
document we can use for our operations. I hope to have this completed in the
by early August so we can run a couple of drills incorporating these
standards before the SET. More details about this to follow.
