Hi folks,
The 147.105 repeater is back on the air. We are using the substitute
controller, and we are operating on carrier squelch only at this
time. Updates, mods and improvements will continue over the summer.
Landon and Greg have the control codes should problems arise, so they
can disable the repeater.
Signal reports are welcomed.
Thanks,
Robin Midgett K4IDC

Dear Fellow Amateurs,
Special Event Station W4D: Home for a Hero is scheduled to broadcast
from Greer Stadium on Tuesday, 17 July starting at 7 am. This is in
conjunction with the fund raiser for Sgt. Kevin Downs from Kingston
Springs who was severely injured in Iraq in 2005.
At this late moment I need more volunteers to make this event a success.
There is an opening for two operators at 10 am to 2 pm. The two
operators can alternate between being on the on-air and maintaining the
log. I am providing all equipment, meals and drinks.
I apologize waiting until now to ask, but the operators who were going
to work that shift had to bow out at the last minute. In any case, this
is an opportunity to help a local hero from our community. If you can
not help but know someone who may be interested, please pass this
message along.
If you can help, call me at 952-4750. More information about this event
is at www.qrz.com/W4D <www.qrz.com/w4d>

Subject: [-WC4AR-] Rain catchers needed
Message-ID: <000001c7c67c$e3761700$0200a8c0 at shack1>
Hi all,
I know many of you are interested in the weather and enjoy keeping up
with rain fall totals and what not. Recently I found out about a
program which collects rain fall data across several states, including
Tennessee. The program is called CocoRahs and the web site for
Tennessee is
http://www.cocorahs.org/state.aspx?state=tn
Several of the employees at the NWS office in Old Hickory are active in
the program along with close to 50 rain watchers in Wilson County alone.
All it takes is a certified rain gauge (available at
www.weatheryourway.com for $22 + $7 s/h.--- it's a nice one too) and a
few minutes everyday or week. For more details visit the main CocoRahs
web page at
http://www.cocorahs.org
And if you go to www.weatheryourway.com to buy one of the CocoRahs rain
gauges, the login name is "coco" and the password is "rahs"
If you have any questions, just holler. And feel free to pass this
email along to your weather watching friends.

Message-ID: <6.2.3.4.2.20070731173609.036ecf70 at m.mail.vanderbilt.edu>
Hi Everyone,
Now that our repeater is back on the air and seems to be stable, it's
time to resume the Thursday night nets. Previously, the nets were called by:
K4KO
K4IDC
K4IWX
K4GF
Some have told me they wish to reduce their participation for calling
the nets; no problem there. If you're interested in calling the net,
please let me know ASAP, we can use more net control ops. The
pre-amble and net order are printed on the website. All that is
required is to follow the printed outline of the net, log the
participants call signs and submit that log to me via email...that's it.
Please notify me of your desires regarding the Thursday night nets.
Thanks,
Robin Midgett K4IDC

Huntsville bound hamsters,
A friend of mine, Jim Key - WB4JVR, here in Lebanon is looking for a
ride to and from the Huntsville hamfest Saturday. Jim is interested in
getting back on the air after losing his TS850 to a lightning strike
last year.
If you are going to Huntsville and have room for a rider, Jim doesn't
take up much room and he is really interesting to talk to. I don't
think he wants to drive but he is eager to go and will gladly share
expenses.
You can reach Jim at 615.453.3712 or let me know and I'll give him your
email address.
Thanks.
